4 Surprising Reasons to Get a Compost Toilet on Your Boat

Wednesday, 06 July 2016

A composting toilet treats human waste using biological processes, changing it into organic compost that can be used as soil fertiliser. It is in fact a complete waste processing system on a small scale. Bacteria and other macro and micro-organisms thrive in the aerobic conditions provided by a composting toilet, getting rid of harmful pathogens, removing the risk to human health and environment and converting the waste nutrients into fertile soil. Waste material is reduced to a small fraction of its original volume.

Thirty-One-Derful Feet

Lisa and I enjoyed the opportunity for a little Pacific Northwest cruising aboard our new Helmsman Trawlers 31 Camano while taking her to PassageMaker’s TrawlerFest in Anacortes. This gem is the latest (and the most compact) addition to the line of Helmsman Trawlers. We’ve been working for several years on this project to update and substantially redesign the venerable Camano 31 and were glad for some sea time to “test cruise" the finished product.

Preferred Partners Scheme ‘Bringing down the cost of boat ownership’

Preferred Partners Scheme ‘Bringing down the cost of boat ownership’

Tuesday, 24 May 2016

Another thing we are committed to at Boatshed is reducing the costs of boat ownership for our customers. Boat buyers will, typically, spend about 20% of the price of a boat on necessary equipment, products and services within the first 12 months of ownership. This expenditure can be considerable and is often overlooked by other brokers. Our Preferred Partners Scheme is aimed at reducing this expenditure and thereby the overall cost of boat ownership for Boatshed customers.
