There was quite a buzz of excitement and activity outside Boatshed Plymouth’s new office which is situated on Lawrence Road, Mount Batten, Plymouth just behind the old sea plane hangar where Bridgend Boat Company is.

The Boatshed Plymouth team can see into the worksheds of this renown local company from their office and all the excitement was caused by the imminent launch of the TS Jack Petchley, a brand new sister ship to the TS John Jerwood which is owned and operated by The Marine Society and Sea Cadets and when in service will be able to accommodate 16 cadets for training and 6 crew.

Debbie Fullalove of Bridgend Boat Company invited Tony and Amina Cleal aboard for a quick look round before the travel hoist arrived to take her the short distance from the shed to the lifting bay at Plymouth Yacht Haven Marina.

The boat has been built from moulds made here at the companies work sheds in Mount Batten and is a fantastic endorsement of the skill, expertise and craftsmanship of everyone who has worked on her. Her sister ship is due in for a refit soon and we are happy to report that despite the current economic doom from most of the countries media both Bridgend Boat Company and Boatshed Plymouth are very busy and looking forward very positively to the future. Anyone interested in commissioning a similar vessel is welcome to contact Bridgend Boat Company to discuss their requirements.

The interior fit out and sea trials will continue for another four weeks or so but the boat herself is looking fantastic and I’m happy to report is now sitting pretty in the marina with no problems at all. Here at Boatshed Plymouth we do sell a wide range of used sailing and power boats but nothing quite like the TS Jack Petchley has ever graced our books.
