Broker's Comments
From the moment I stepped up in to this converted Ex-military Munitions barge, I was immediately taken back by her solid appearance, general feel and strength of her decks underfoot.
Not surprising given that the owners tell us that she is made entirely from 10mm coded steel! But then again, you would expect nothing less given her previous purpose in the military.
Her owners inform us that she only left military service three years ago and as you would expect, she appears to have been maintained to the highest military standards.
She does still require some finishing off in certain areas but this also gives the new owners their chance to add their own personal touch to their new home. The current owners also received very little information regarding the exact size and dimensions of this barge when purchasing her from the military along such things as tankage sizes etc. So the information they have provided in this listing is to their best knowledge.
Stepping in to her upper living area, located on the top deck, I found myself standing in a very inviting, cosy and warm space. Yet it was also bright and airy with the added benefit of fantastic visibility and views in almost all directions. A log burner located at one end provides the area with a fantastic form of heat and pleasing aesthetics, combined with a cosy seating plan makes the whole space a really nice place to be.
There is also a reception area for hanging hats, coats, gloves and shoes etc along with a utility area complete with a washing machine and tumble drier. All in all I thought the use of this space was very clever.
Heading forward and located towards the midship area is an impressively fitted out workshop. This area could also be used for a multitude of other uses if required. Then, heading out of the workshop you step on to the forward deck area that has been laid out in such a way as to provide a fabulous sundeck with seating, artificial grass and a BBQ area.
Leading down to the main saloon and galley living area is a large staircase fitted with an electric stairlift. When I arrived at the bottom of the stairs I was taken aback by the sheer feeling of size and space which is a rare thing on any liveaboard. The whole saloon area was fitted out with a lovely selection of chairs, settees and coffee tables. Along with carpets, rugs and a lovely large roof-light overhead complementing the centrepiece, is a very large log burner throwing out masses of heat making the whole barge feel very warm and cosy.
Located on the starboard side of the barge was a very large and fantastically equipped galley/kitchen area complete with a dining table that can accommodate up to six people. The area appeared to be fitted out to a high standard and is complimented by a complete range of the latest kitchen/galley appliances you would ever need including a full size fridge, freezer, dishwasher and microwave.
Leaving the kitchen and heading towards the stern area of the boat there is a twin bed located with a large ensuite bathroom containing a full size jacuzzi whirlpool bath! Now that's something you don't find on many boats!
Another surprise awaits as you head towards the stern of the boat and step through the fabulous feature of a watertight door into a fitness suite. Yes, I did say, a "Fitness Suite" fitted out with all manor of exercise equipment.
Boat fans, I feel that I could just keep on writing about this barge as she impressed me so much, but I will leave my comments here for now as there is so much more for you to see including videos, 3D images and nearly 150 photos of this fabulous barge.
This barge is very unique testament to the hard work and time invested in her by her current owners. So please don't leave it too long! If you would like to view this Barge then don't hesitate to drop me a line or give me a call so I can arrange a viewing.
One final and very important point I will make regarding this barge is that "ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!" you see in the videos and photographs (even the tools in the workshop and the fitness equipment) are included in the sale. The only thing the current owners are taking with them when they leave to go travelling are their very personal belongings, photographs and pictures. The new owners can literally step straight onboard and start living in this fully-furnished beautiful barge!
I feel she won't be hanging around for too long!
