Mylor Harbour is worth a visit!

Mylor Yacht Harbour, a hidden gem that’s worth checking out. This week on a visit to Falmouth we decided to call in at the Mylor Yacht Harbour facility. Mylor has always been a location on our regular dog walks when we are staying in the main Falmouth Harbour but we’ve never visited specifically by boat, so we decided to pop round and see what the marine facilities were like. It’s clear that a tremendous amount of money and effort has been invested at Mylor with very smart and up to date facilities https://www.mylor.com/. We ended up on a mooring off the Mylor Yacht Harbour itself but this is well served by some very smart water taxis or indeed you can use your tender, like we do, to go ashore. The quality of the mooring tackle and the amount of space around the moorings is worthy of mention, it’s certainly a place if I wanted to leave the boat I wouldn’t be concerned about the occasional passing storm and bad weather keeping me awake while I was away from my boat worrying about it.

Mylor is in a fantastic location for walks and getting out and about whilst ashore. It’s reasonably close to Falmouth town itself but the surrounding hills, beaches and walks are really worth a visit just in itself. It has extensive boat parking, also car parking on site and we understand that the origins of Mylor Harbour date back over 200 years when the harbour itself was used as the main port for UK’s oyster fleet, which clearly fished for oysters under sail. We were impressed by the quality and strength of the Wi-Fi signal even out on the moorings as we’d been situated and the general cleanliness and tidiness of the site puts many boat yards to shame. We like Mylor a lot, it tends to be out of the way of the main Falmouth town but if you’re looking for a great location with superb facilities and certainly a safe location to leave your boat when you’re travelling either up or down channel, it gets the Boatshed stamp of approval.

Thanks for the friendly team at marina reception who made us very welcome despite the inclement weather and our slightly bedraggled state.
