This Amberjack 290 was repowered in 2019 with reliable and efficient Mercury 6.2L fuel-injected engines. The modern engine offers improved fuel economy and smoother performance compared to the original powerplant.

It features a raw water cooling system that helps maintain optimal engine temperatures during extended runs, contributing to durability and reliability.

Notably, this boat has a hard-to-find V-drive transmission, which places the drive system under the cockpit sole for better weight distribution and handling. The V-drive setup is prized for providing a smooth, stable ride and responsive performance, making it ideal for both cruising and fishing.

Overall, the upgraded power system delivers dependable, efficient propulsion and enhances the boat’s performance on the water.

Solid build quality, typical of Sea Ray in this era. The boat has a modified-V hull—good for handling chop and staying comfortable at cruise speed. It’s a moderate displacement hull, so it rides smooth without feeling heavy or sluggish.

Decks are cored, which helps keep the weight down and adds stiffness underfoot. Everything feels solid—no soft spots noticed during walkaround.

Fuel system is built with aluminum tanks, filled from the deck with proper venting. No signs of corrosion or leaking, and they’re well-supported and accessible.

Water and holding tanks are plastic—common and practical for this size boat. Easy to maintain, and no signs of odor or leaks in the cabin.

Overall, this is a well-thought-out and properly built express cruiser. Not overbuilt or underbuilt—just a solid, dependable setup that suits both fishing and family use.

Waterline Boats / Boatshed does not independently verify capacities and measures, which are reported from seller-provided information and/or literature.

Up front, the double berth is forward and offers very comfortable sleeping for two adults with storage space underneath. This area benefits from good natural light and ventilation, making it a cozy retreat.

Just aft, on the starboard side, you’ll find the dinette seating area, which easily converts into an extra berth. While it can sleep two in a pinch, it’s more comfortable for one adult—ideal for occasional guests or family members.

Opposite the dinette on the port side is the galley, equipped with a single-burner butane stove, sink, storage, and a built-in refrigerator—a handy feature for keeping drinks and perishables chilled on longer trips.

Under the helm deck there’s a mid-berth tucked away, providing a cozy and private sleeping area for kids or one adult. It’s very comfortable for one and could fit two in a pinch, adding flexible sleeping options without taking up main cabin space.

Commentaires du Broker

This is a clean boat. The gel coat still shines, and nothing looks sun-faded or weathered. It's obvious the owner took care of it.

The cockpit is roomy and well laid out. Great for fishing or just cruising with family and friends. Upholstery looks good—no cracks or stains. Helm is clean, everything looks like it’s in working order, and it hasn’t been messed with or overdone.

The side decks are narrow, but they do give you access to the bow. With good handholds and rails, it’s manageable if you need to go forward while underway or at anchor.

Down below, the cabin is surprisingly spacious for a 29-footer. It’s clean, nothing smells musty, and the finishes still look fresh. Good setup for a couple or small family looking to do some weekend trips.

Overall, this Amberjack is a solid mix of cruiser and fishing boat. If you’re looking for something that’s been protected from the elements and doesn’t need a bunch of work, this one’s ready to go. Just get on and enjoy it.
